Project Background
When we spoke to this customer they were ready to take control of their energy costs and environmental impact by switching to clean solar energy. As a homeowner in Auckland, they sought a long-term solution that could deliver energy independence, cost efficiency, and sustainability — all without compromising on performance or aesthetics.

The Challenge
The client faced rising energy costs and wanted a solution that would deliver measurable savings over time. The property’s moderate energy consumption meant that energy storage would be key to capturing maximum value from solar generation. Ensuring seamless integration with their existing power setup and future-proofing for battery compatibility were also high on the priority list.
The Solar Hub Solution
Solar Hub NZ designed a 7.2kW residential solar system tailored for performance and reliability:
Solar Panels: 16x JA Solar 450W Bifacial Double Glass modules (total 7.2kW capacity)
Inverter: GoodWe GW5000-ES-20 Hybrid Inverter with 5kW output
Battery: Panasonic SV-LV ESS G3 with 5.4kWh storage
Estimated Annual Generation: 9,144 kWh
Smart Integration: Real-time monitoring and intelligent grid interaction
This hybrid setup allows the client to offset daytime usage, export excess to the grid, and store energy for night-time use — maximising savings and minimising reliance on the grid.
Outcome & Results
The installed system is projected to generate 313% of the household’s electricity demand annually, allowing for substantial export and optimal use of battery storage.
Key highlights:
Estimated Annual Bill Savings: Over $2,000
Lifetime Savings: Over $64,000
Total Return on Investment: 257%
Environmental Benefit: Over 98,000 km of car emissions offset and equivalent of 201 trees planted over system lifetime.
