Installation Date: December 2025
Installer: Solar Hub NZ Limited
Project Background
A residential property in the growing Auckland suburb of Flat Bush was seeking to reduce its long-term energy costs and environmental footprint. The homeowner reached out to Solar Hub NZ for a high-performance solar system tailored to the home’s unique structure and energy profile.
The Challenge
The home featured a TPO membrane roof, a lightweight, waterproof roofing material that poses challenges for traditional solar mounting systems due to its sensitivity and the need to avoid penetrations. A customised solution was needed to ensure both optimal energy production and full protection of the roofing membrane.
Additionally, the property’s high energy usage — over 26,000 kWh per year — demanded a system that could maximise available roof space for solar production, while maintaining battery storage for peak-time usage.
The Solar Hub Solution
To overcome the roofing challenge, Solar Hub deployed its specialised "sticky panel" installation method — a non-invasive adhesive mounting solution designed specifically for membrane roofs. This technique preserved the roof’s integrity while enabling efficient solar panel placement across a broad surface area.
System Size: 18.72 kW
Solar Panels: 52 x GoodWe 360W modules — selected for their compact size and sticky adhesive backs, which allowed more panels to be installed across the roof.
Inverter: 15 kW Deye Hybrid Inverter
Battery: 17.4 kWh Micromall Lithium-Ion Storage
Mounting: Non-penetrative adhesive solution, ideal for membrane roofing
Outcome & Results
Estimated Annual Bill Savings: Over $5,000*
Projected Bill Savings over System Lifetime (25 years): Over $170,000*
Projected Lifetime Net Savings: Over $110,000*
Grid Consumption Offset: 84%
Export to Grid: 57% of generated energy
Self-Consumption: 43%
Environmental Benefits:
3 tonnes of CO₂ avoided annually
Equivalent to 232,997 km of car travel or planting 476 trees

The system design not only maintained the waterproofing and structural integrity of the roof, but also enabled greater panel coverage thanks to the lower-wattage, space-efficient 360W modules.
Why Solar Hub?
Solar Hub’s ability to engineer and install on complex roof types highlights its end-to-end capability. The use of adhesive-mounted panels on a TPO membrane roof showcases a deep understanding of both structural requirements and solar performance optimisation. The project also benefited from:
